A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird 23.0 (Web Browser). Affected is the function js::IsObjectInContextCompartment of the component OBJECT Handler. In general this flaw cannot be exploited through email in the Thunderbird product because scripting is disabled, but is potentially a risk in browser or browser-like contexts.This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2013-1725 since 02/13/2013. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 69936 (CentOS 5 / 6 : firefox (CESA-2013:1268)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CentOS Local Security Checks.
