The ReadDCMImage function in coders\dcm.c in ImageMagick 7.0.6-1 has an integer signedness error leading to excessive memory consumption via a crafted DCM file.

The bug was discovered 06/29/2017. The weakness was disclosed 08/02/2017 by Venustech with Adlab of Venustech (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-12140 since 08/01/2017. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
