In ImageMagick 7.0.6-8, the load_level function in coders/xcf.c lacks offset validation, which allows attackers to cause a denial of service (load_tile memory exhaustion) via a crafted file.
The bug was discovered 08/15/2017. The weakness was published 08/23/2017 by Venustech with Adlab of Venustech (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-13133 since 08/22/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
