A vulnerability has been found in ImageMagick 7.0.7-1 (Image Processing Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function DrawGetStrokeDashArray of the file wand/drawing-wand.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. DrawGetStrokeDashArray in wand/drawing-wand.c in ImageMagick 7.0.7-1 mishandles certain NULL arrays, which allows attackers to perform Denial of Service (NULL pointer dereference and application crash in AcquireQuantumMemory within MagickCore/memory.c) by providing a crafted Image File as input.
The bug was discovered 09/01/2017. The weakness was presented 09/17/2017 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-14505 since 09/17/2017.
