A vulnerability was found in Poppler 0.59.0 (Document Reader Software). It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function FoFiTrueType::getCFFBlock of the file FoFiTrueType.cc. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-476. The FoFiTrueType::getCFFBlock function in FoFiTrueType.cc in Poppler 0.59.0 has a NULL pointer dereference vulnerability due to lack of validation of a table pointer, which allows an attacker to launch a denial of service attack.
The bug was discovered 09/11/2017. The weakness was disclosed 10/02/2017 (Website). The advisory is available at bugs.freedesktop.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2017-14977 since 10/01/2017. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
