The Enterprise Meeting Server in IBM Lotus Sametime 8.5.2 and 8.5.2.1 does not properly restrict application cookies, which allows remote attackers to read session variables by leveraging a weak setting of the Domain variable.

The weakness was published 11/08/2013 by Chris John Riley with Raiffeisen Informatik GmbH as IBM Sametime Enterprise Meeting Server message spoofing as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at xforce.iss.net. The public release has been coordinated with IBM. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2013-3985 since 06/07/2013. Access to the local network is required for this attack. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
