An exploitable improper authorization vulnerability exists in admin_peers API of cpp-ethereum's JSON-RPC (commit 4e1015743b95821849d001618a7ce82c7c073768). A JSON request can cause an access to the restricted functionality resulting in authorization bypass. An attacker can send JSON to trigger this vulnerability.
The bug was discovered 01/09/2018. The weakness was published 01/19/2018 by Cisco with Cisco Talos (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-12114 since 07/31/2017. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
