A vulnerability was found in OpenStack Ceilometer 2013.1/2013.2 (Cloud Software). It has been classified as critical. (1) impl_db2.py and (2) impl_mongodb.py in OpenStack Ceilometer 2013.2 and earlier, when the logging level is set to INFO, logs the connection string from ceilometer.conf, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information (the DB2 or MongoDB password) by reading the log file.

The weakness was released 10/25/2013 by Eric Brown as OSSA 2013-031 as not defined mailinglist post (oss-sec). The advisory is shared at seclists.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-6384 since 11/04/2013. The exploitability is told to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details and a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1592 for this issue.

After immediately, there has been an exploit disclosed. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
