The FrameLoader::notifyIfInitialDocumentAccessed function in core/loader/FrameLoader.cpp in Blink, as used in Google Chrome before 31.0.1650.63, makes an incorrect check for an empty document during presentation of a modal dialog, which allows remote attackers to spoof the address bar via vectors involving the document.write method.
The weakness was shared 11/26/2013 by Bas Venis (Cloudfuzzer) as 322959 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at googlechromereleases.blogspot.com. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-6636 since 11/05/2013. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details and a private exploit are known.
