A vulnerability was found in KDE kpdf up to 3.2.3. It has been classified as critical. This affects the function Decrypt::makeFileKey2. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Buffer overflow in the Decrypt::makeFileKey2 function in Decrypt.cc for xpdf 3.00 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a PDF file with a large /Encrypt /Length keyLength value.
The bug was discovered 01/06/2005. The weakness was shared 01/20/2005 by Martin Schulze with Debian (Website). The advisory is shared at kde.org.
