A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in CUPS up to 2.2.5 (Printing Software). Affected by this issue is the function add_job of the file scheduler/ipp.c. The add_job function in scheduler/ipp.c in CUPS before 2.2.6, when D-Bus support is enabled, can be crashed by remote attackers by sending print jobs with an invalid username, related to a D-Bus notification.
The bug was discovered 10/16/2017. The weakness was published 03/26/2018 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-18248 since 03/26/2018. The attack may be launched remotely. A simple authentication is required for exploitation.
