A vulnerability was found in Foreman up to 1.12.x (Service Management Software). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the component Web Interface. It was found that foreman before 1.13.0 is vulnerable to a stored XSS via an organization or location name. This could allow an attacker with privileges to set the organization or location name to display arbitrary HTML including scripting code within the web interface.
The bug was discovered 11/06/2016. The weakness was disclosed 08/01/2018 with Red Hat as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2016-8639 since 10/12/2016. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

Upgrading to version 1.13.0 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
