GNOME GLib 2.56.1 has an out-of-bounds read vulnerability in g_markup_parse_context_parse() in gmarkup.c, related to utf8_str().
The bug was discovered 04/08/2018. The weakness was presented 09/04/2018 by Venustech with Adlab of Venustech (Website). The advisory is shared at gitlab.gnome.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2018-16429 since 09/03/2018. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication.
