Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in glusterfs Server (the affected version unknown). This issue affects the function gfs3_lookup_req of the component RPC Request Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A flaw was found in RPC request using gfs3_lookup_req in glusterfs server. An authenticated attacker could use this flaw to leak information and execute remote denial of service by crashing gluster brick process.
The bug was discovered 02/03/2018. The weakness was released 09/04/2018 by Michael Hanselmann as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugzilla.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-10927 since 05/09/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation.
