Heap-based buffer overflow in CoreAnimation in Apple OS X before 10.9.2 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (application crash) via a crafted image.

The weakness was shared 02/25/2014 by Karl Smith with NCC Group as HT6150 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. The vendor cooperated in the coordination of the public release. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2014-1258 since 01/08/2014. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
