A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in cURL up to 7.61.1 (Network Utility Software). This issue affects the function voutf of the file tool_msgs.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a out-of-bounds vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-125. Curl versions 7.14.1 through 7.61.1 are vulnerable to a heap-based buffer over-read in the tool_msgs.c:voutf() function that may result in information exposure and denial of service.
The bug was discovered 10/31/2018. The weakness was released 10/30/2018 by Daniel Stenberg as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com.
