Details
A vulnerability classified as critical was found in Exiv2 0.26 (Image Processing Software). This vulnerability affects the function Exiv2::PsdImage::readMetadata of the file psdimage.cpp of the component PSD Image Reader. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a integer overflow vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-190. The product performs a calculation that can produce an integer overflow or wraparound, when the logic assumes that the resulting value will always be larger than the original value. This can introduce other weaknesses when the calculation is used for resource management or execution control. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
In Exiv2 0.26, Exiv2::PsdImage::readMetadata in psdimage.cpp in the PSD image reader may suffer from a denial of service (infinite loop) caused by an integer overflow via a crafted PSD image file.
The bug was discovered 08/31/2018. The weakness was presented 11/08/2018 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-19108 since 11/08/2018.
