Failure to apply Mark-of-the-Web in Downloads in Google Chrome prior to 65.0.3325.146 allowed a remote attacker to bypass OS level controls via a crafted HTML page.
The bug was discovered 03/06/2018. The weakness was disclosed 11/14/2018 by Abdulrahman Alqabandi (lokihardt) with Tencent (Website). The advisory is shared at chromereleases.googleblog.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-6074 since 01/23/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
