A vulnerability was found in Wireshark up to 2.6.4 (Packet Analyzer Software). It has been rated as problematic. In Wireshark 2.6.0 to 2.6.4 and 2.4.0 to 2.4.10, the IxVeriWave file parser could crash. This was addressed in wiretap/vwr.c by adjusting a buffer boundary.
The bug was discovered 11/27/2018. The weakness was presented 11/29/2018 by Mateusz Jurczyk (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-19627 since 11/28/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
