A vulnerability has been found in FasterXML jackson-databind up to 2.9.6 (Programming Language Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function slf4j-ext of the component Deserialization. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a deserialization vulnerability. FasterXML jackson-databind 2.x before 2.9.7 might allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code by leveraging failure to block the slf4j-ext class from polymorphic deserialization.
The bug was discovered 07/27/2018. The weakness was shared 01/02/2019 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-14718 since 07/28/2018. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
