Allowing the chrome.debugger API to attach to Web UI pages in DevTools in Google Chrome prior to 67.0.3396.62 allowed an attacker who convinced a user to install a malicious extension to execute arbitrary code via a crafted Chrome Extension.
The bug was discovered 05/29/2018. The weakness was released 01/09/2019 by Natalie Silvanovich with Google Project Zero (Website). The advisory is shared for download at debian.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2018-6140 since 01/23/2018. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
