Insufficient validation of an image filter in Skia in Google Chrome prior to 67.0.3396.62 allowed a remote attacker who had compromised the renderer process to perform an out of bounds memory read via a crafted HTML page.
The bug was discovered 05/29/2018. The weakness was disclosed 01/09/2019 by Natalie Silvanovich with Google Project Zero (Website). The advisory is shared at debian.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2018-6141 since 01/23/2018. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 1 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
