The weakness was released 04/22/2014 by Ian Beer with Google Project Zero as HT6207 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. The public release was coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-1322 since 01/08/2014. The exploitation appears to be difficult. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1592. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 73648 (Mac OS X Multiple Vulnerabilities (Security Update 2014-002)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
