An issue was discovered on V-Zug Combi-Steam MSLQ devices before Ethernet R07 and before WLAN R05. By default, the device does not enforce any authentication. An adjacent attacker is able to use the network interface without proper access control.
The bug was discovered 05/18/2018. The weakness was published 09/30/2019 by Marc Ruef with scip AG as ID 134115 as confirmed entry (VulDB). It is possible to read the advisory at vuldb.com. The public release has been coordinated with V-Zug. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2019-17219 since 10/06/2019. The attack can only be initiated within the local network. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. The advisory points out:
By default the device does not enforce an authentication. An adjacent attacker is able to use the network interface without proper authentication.
A private exploit has been developed by Marc Ruef. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 500 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.
Upgrading to version Ethernet R07 or WLAN R05 eliminates this vulnerability.
