Details
A vulnerability was found in Mozilla Firefox, Firefox ESR and Thunderbird on Windows (Web Browser) (the affected version is unknown) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown code of the component CLI. The manipulation as part of a Command Line Argument leads to a input validation vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-88. The product constructs a string for a command to be executed by a separate component
in another control sphere, but it does not properly delimit the
intended arguments, options, or switches within that command string. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
A vulnerability was discovered where specific command line arguments are not properly discarded during Firefox invocation as a shell handler for URLs. This could be used to retrieve and execute files whose location is supplied through these command line arguments if Firefox is configured as the default URI handler for a given URI scheme in third party applications and these applications insufficiently sanitize URL data. *Note: This issue only affects Windows operating systems. Other operating systems are unaffected.*. This vulnerability affects Thunderbird < 60.6, Firefox ESR < 60.6, and Firefox < 66.
