If WebRTC permission is requested from documents with data: or blob: URLs, the permission notifications do not properly display the originating domain. The notification states "Unknown origin" as the requestee, leading to user confusion about which site is asking for this permission. This vulnerability affects Firefox < 66.
The bug was discovered 03/19/2019. The weakness was disclosed 04/26/2019. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2019-9808 since 03/14/2019. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 38 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k. Upgrading to version 66.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
