Internet Explorer 5.x and Microsoft Outlook allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files by redirecting the contents of an IFRAME using the DHTML Edit Control (DHTMLED).
The issue has been introduced in 11/08/1999. The weakness was disclosed 07/14/2000 by Georgi Guninski (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2000-0662. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
