A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in SGI IRIX up to 6.5.8 (Operating System). This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file .ilmpAAA of the component InPerson. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a symlink vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-61. The product, when opening a file or directory, does not sufficiently account for when the file is a symbolic link that resolves to a target outside of the intended control sphere. inpview in InPerson in SGI IRIX 5.3 through IRIX 6.5.10 allows local users to gain privileges via a symlink attack on the .ilmpAAA temporary file.
