Internet Explorer 5.0 through 5.5 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files from the client via the INPUT TYPE element in an HTML form, aka the "File Upload via Form" vulnerability.

The issue has been introduced in 06/02/1998. The weakness was shared 02/16/2001 as MS00-093 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared at microsoft.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2001-0089. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
