A vulnerability was found in OpenBSD OpenSSH 4.0 (Connectivity Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function GSSAPIDelegateCredentials. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a denial of service vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-404. OpenSSH 4.0, and other versions before 4.2, does not properly handle dynamic port forwarding ("-D" option) when a listen address is not provided, which may cause OpenSSH to enable the GatewayPorts functionality.
The bug was discovered 09/02/2005. The weakness was shared 09/02/2005 by Paul Moore (Website). The advisory is shared for download at openbsd.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2005-2797 since 09/06/2005. The attack may be launched remotely. A simple authentication is required for exploitation. Upgrading to version 4.2p1 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at ftp.openbsd.org. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
