The manipulation with the input value / leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-200. fopen_wrappers.c in PHP 4.4.0, and possibly other versions, does not properly restrict access to other directories when the open_basedir directive includes a trailing slash, which allows PHP scripts in one directory to access files in other directories whose names are substrings of the original directory.
The bug was discovered 09/27/2005. The weakness was presented 08/17/2005 by Thorben (Website). The advisory is shared at bugs.debian.org.
