A vulnerability was found in OpenLDAP 2.0/2.0.19 (Directory Service Software). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown function of the component slapd. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. slapd in OpenLDAP 2.0 through 2.0.19 allows local users, and anonymous users before 2.0.8, to conduct a "replace" action on access controls without any values, which causes OpenLDAP to delete non-mandatory attributes that would otherwise be protected by ACLs.
The bug was discovered 01/14/2002. The weakness was disclosed 04/09/2004 by Thomas Fritz (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at openldap.org.
