Internet Explorer 5.01, 5.5 and 6.0 does not properly handle the Content-Type HTML header field, which allows remote attackers to modify which application is used to process a document.

The issue has been introduced in 11/08/1999. The weakness was disclosed 03/08/2002 by Sandro Gauci as MS02-005 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is shared for download at microsoft.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2002-0025. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
