A vulnerability was found in Microsoft SQL Server 7.0/2000 (Database Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown function of the component Extended Stored Procedure. Buffer overflows in extended stored procedures for Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 and 2000 allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service or execute arbitrary code via a database query with certain long arguments.
The weakness was published 05/16/2002 by Cesar Cerrudo as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). It is possible to read the advisory at kb.cert.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2002-0154. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
