A vulnerability was found in SquirrelMail 1.2.2 (Mail Client Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects an unknown functionality of the file compose.php of the component IMG URL Handler. Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in compose.php in SquirrelMail before 1.2.3 allows remote attackers to send email as other users via an IMG URL with modified send_to and subject parameters.

The weakness was presented 12/31/2002 as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2002-1648 since 03/28/2005. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
