Alt-N Technologies MDaemon 5.0.5.0 and earlier creates a default MDaemon mail account with a password of MServer, which could allow remote attackers to send anonymous email.

The weakness was released 12/31/2002 by Obscure (Website). The advisory is shared at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2002-1738 since 06/21/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
