A vulnerability has been found in HP Application Server 8.0 (Application Server Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the file web-inf. HP Application Server 8.0, when running on Windows, allows remote attackers to retrieve files in the WEB-INF directory, which contains Java class files and configuration information, via a request to the WEB-INF directory with a trailing dot ("WEB-INF.").
The weakness was presented 12/31/2002 by Matt Moore with WESTPOINT (Website). The advisory is available at westpoint.ltd.uk. This vulnerability was named CVE-2002-1856 since 06/29/2005. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
