A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in PHP 4.4.2/5.1.2 (Programming Language Software). This affects the function copy of the component compress.zlib File Wrapper. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-79. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in phpinfo (info.c) in PHP 5.1.2 and 4.4.2 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via long array variables, including (1) a large number of dimensions or (2) long values, which prevents HTML tags from being removed.
The bug was discovered 04/08/2006. The weakness was presented 04/10/2006 by Maksymilian Arciemowicz (Website). The advisory is shared at securityreason.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2006-0996 since 03/06/2006. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation.
