A vulnerability was found in PHP 4.4.2/5.1.2 (Programming Language Software). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is the function phpinfo. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in phpinfo (info.c) in PHP 5.1.2 and 4.4.2 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via long array variables, including (1) a large number of dimensions or (2) long values, which prevents HTML tags from being removed.
The weakness was released 04/10/2006 by Maksymilian Arciemowicz (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityreason.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2006-0996 since 03/06/2006. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction.
