A vulnerability was found in Francisco Burzi PHP-Nuke 8.0 Final (Content Management System). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code of the file index.php. The manipulation of the argument sid/max/sel1/sel2/sel3/sel4/sel5/match/mod1/mod2/mod3 with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Multiple cross-site scripting vulnerabilities in index.php in the Search module for Php-Nuke allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) sid, (2) max, (3) sel1, (4) sel2, (5) sel3, (6) sel4, (7) sel5, (8) match, (9) mod1, (10) mod2, or (11) mod3 parameters.
The weakness was disclosed 07/27/2004 by Janek Vind with waraxe (Website). The advisory is shared at marc.theaimsgroup.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-0737 since 07/22/2004. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
By approaching the search of inurl:index.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
