A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in SalesLogix 2000.0. This issue affects an unknown part of the component Cookie Handler. SalesLogix 6.1 allows remote attackers to bypass authentication by modifying the slxweb cookie to set user=Admin, teams=ADMIN!, and usertype=Administrator.
The bug was discovered 05/19/2004. The weakness was disclosed 10/18/2004 by Carl Livitt (Website). The advisory is shared at marc.theaimsgroup.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2004-1605 since 02/20/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
