BEA WebLogic Server before 8.1 Service Pack 4 does not properly set the Quality of Service in certain circumstances, which prevents some transmissions from being encrypted via SSL, and allows remote attackers to more easily read potentially sensitive network traffic.

The weakness was released 05/16/2006 with BEA (Website). The advisory is shared for download at dev2dev.bea.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2006-2461 since 05/19/2006. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 87187 (Oracle WebLogic Server Information Disclosure (BEA06-132.00)).
