A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Webcalendar (Calendar Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the file login.php. The manipulation of the argument return_path with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Impacted is integrity. CVE summarizes:
CRLF injection vulnerability in login.php in WebCalendar allows remote attackers to inject CRLF sequences via the return_path parameter and perform HTTP Response Splitting attacks to modify expected HTML content from the server.
The weakness was published 12/31/2004 by Joxean Koret (Website). The advisory is available at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2004-1507 since 02/18/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
