A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Expinion.net News Manager Lite 2.5. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the file comment_add.asp. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in News Manager Lite 2.5 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) email parameter to comment_add.asp, (2) search parameter to search.asp, or (3) n parameter to category_news_headline.asp.
The weakness was presented 03/22/2004 by Manuel Lopez (Website). The advisory is shared at marc.theaimsgroup.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2004-1845 since 05/04/2005. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
