A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Early Impact Productcart. This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the file custva.asp. The manipulation of the argument redirectUrl with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Custva.asp in EarlyImpact ProductCart allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary Javascript via the redirectUrl parameter.
The bug was discovered 01/29/2004. The weakness was released 02/16/2004 by Nick Gudov with S-Quadra (Website). The advisory is available at archives.neohapsis.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2004-2174 since 07/10/2005. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 18 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k. By approaching the search of inurl:custva.asp it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12024 (EarlyImpact ProductCart Multiple Vulnerabilities).
