A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in Adobe Flash Player up to 9.0 (Multimedia Player Software). This affects some unknown functionality of the component SWF File Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. Unspecified vulnerability in Adobe (Macromedia) Flash Player 8.0.24.0 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands via a malformed .swf file that results in "multiple improper memory access" errors.
The bug was discovered 06/09/2006. The weakness was released 07/10/2006 by Haifei Li with Fortinet Security Research as MS06-069 (Website). The advisory is shared at fortinet.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2006-3587 since 07/13/2006. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 31 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k.
