Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Clearswift MIMEsweeper for Web before 5.1.15 Hotfix allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the URL, which is reflected back in an error message when trying to access a blocked web site.
The weakness was presented 07/10/2006 by Erez Metula with Clearswift (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at download.mimesweeper.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2006-3522 since 07/11/2006. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept.
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at download.mimesweeper.com. The best possible mitigation is suggested to be upgrading to the latest version.
