Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Oracle Collaboration Suite 10.1.0.4.2 (Groupware Software). This affects some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Unspecified vulnerability in Oracle Database Server 10.1.0.4.2, Application Server 10.1.2.0.2, and Collaboration Suite Release 2, version 9.0.4.2 (Oracle9i) has unspecified impact and attack vectors, as identified by Oracle Vuln# DBC02 in the Reorganize Objects & Convert Tablespace component.
The weakness was disclosed 01/18/2006 by Martin with Red-Database-Security as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is shared at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2006-0283 since 01/18/2006. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
A public exploit has been developed in Perl. The exploit is shared for download at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 57619 (Oracle Application Server Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Web Servers. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 19197 (Oracle January Security Update Multiple Vulnerabilities (January 2006)).
