A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in BEA WebLogic 8.1 (Application Server Software). This vulnerability affects an unknown code block of the component EJB Handler. BEA Weblogic Server 8.1 through 8.1 SP4 does not properly validate client certificates when reusing cached connections, which allows remote attackers to obtain access via an untrusted X.509 certificate.
The weakness was shared 01/17/2007 with BEA (Website). The advisory is available at dev2dev.bea.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2007-0408 since 01/22/2007. Access to the local network is required for this attack. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 86766 (BEA WebLogic Multiple Vulnerabilities (2007)).
Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at dev2dev.bea.com.
