A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in BEA WebLogic 8.1 (Application Server Software). This issue affects some unknown processing of the component EJB Handler. BEA Weblogic Server 8.1 through 8.1 SP4 does not properly validate client certificates when reusing cached connections, which allows remote attackers to obtain access via an untrusted X.509 certificate.

The weakness was published 01/17/2007 with BEA (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at dev2dev.bea.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2007-0408 since 01/22/2007. Access to the local network is required for this attack to succeed. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 86766 (BEA WebLogic Multiple Vulnerabilities (2007)).
